Water Mains in Florida are the main supply pipes that take part of an arrangement of pipes
that are used to distribute water, and they are usually installed underground.
As soon as they are put into service, pipe corrosion occurs, as the chlorine
and oxygen from the water passing through the pipes corrode them. This leads to
unpleasant results, such as discolored water, foul smelling and bad tasting
drinking water. Besides the visible results, the water going through corroded
pipes contains heavy metals that are harmful for your health. Not only are the
smell, taste, and health of the water affected by this corrosion, but also as
corrosion deposits begin to get bigger, they reduce the flow of water and also
impair the heat transfer.
There are some solutions that can be
used to rehabilitate the water mains,
in order to eliminate all the issues and dangers created by old, corroded
pipes. It is important to take care of them, but you should also take into
consideration the access, the cost, and the time for each of the available solutions.
You would definitely prefer to choose a method that is less time consuming, of
lower costs, and more accessible.
In this case, you should choose the
pipe lining, which takes only a few times and it is not very invasive. First,
the water mains need to be cleaned out of all the corrosion deposits. After it
is cleaned thoroughly you will need a long tubular sock, which is saturated
with self-hardening epoxy resin. Then, insert the lining into the water mains and it will be inflated for
about 3 hours, using air pressure, as it forces the liner against the water
pipe. After everything is ready, the pipe is put back in service and it can be
used without any problems.
It is a very easy and convenient
method of rehabilitating the pipes, as it requires only a few hours to get them
back to use, and it is also less invasive than other methods, such as it is the
method of actually replacing the old pipes, which needs excavations and more
work that has to be done.
